USB Superdrive not working on MacBook Pro after software updates

MacBook Pro with no USB ports running Big Sur 11.6.1

Have an Apple USB Superdrive that has worked to allow CD or DVD to be uploaded months ago.

Now I have a new CD to upload and I get the "needs power" message.

There is no USB port on my MacBook Pro so I use an ANKER adapter. This HAS worked before but now it gives the error message that "needs power".

I had a third party CD/DVD that gave me this message. I replaced it with the Apple USB Superdrive and it worked fine when I first got it about 9-10 months ago. Now the Apple product is giving me the "needs power" message. If it had never worked -- I would have returned it but it did for the immediate need. Please tell me how to get enough power to this USB Superdrive (it is less than a year old) to get it to work. (Buying a new MacBook Pro with a USB is NOT an option!).

Many thanks.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.6

Hi,

Connecting via self powered USB Hub could solve the "needs power" error.
