Less clutter:

Right-Click an empty space on the desktop.
Click Use Stacks from the shortcut menu.

Now for the iCloud desktop:

Open System Preferences.
Click Apple ID.
Click iCloud Drive 👉🏼 Options... button.
Click to checkmark ✅ Desktop & Document Folders.
