iTunes won't let me create a playlist now. How do I fix this?

I've been burning discs for my car...Converting files to MP3 and creating playlists in iTunes to burn to disc...everything's been fine until today. Now, whenever I drag a file to the playlist nothing happens...Has anyone else had this problem and was able to fix it?

iTunes shows no music on device Hello, i have two problems that both correlate with each other: In iTunes, under 'On My Device', it shows that there is no music on the device, and that there are no playlists as well; however, on the iPhone, all the playlists and music are on it. After last syncing the phone, every playlist that I had updated songs from, showed in iTunes as being empty from the sync. For some reason this only happened after I updated the iTunes software itself. I hope that someone can help me, as I am desperate to find out what the issue is, and if this has happened to anyone else. Thank you.

iTunes and Ventura, iTunes not allowing me to copy and paste music stored on external hard drive to an external folder; download arrow not working I'm having a recurring issue with Music/iTunes that may be related to Ventura. I do not subscribe to Apple's streaming service, but I buy songs on the iTunes store and copy over songs from CDs and store them all on an external drive. In Music/Settings/Files the destination is correctly listed in Music Media Folder as my external drive. This enables me to take the playlists I've created in iTunes and copy and paste them to an external folder (which I then use to put together a radio program that I host). I recently bought a new 14" MacBook Pro with the M1 silicone chip with OS Ventura. I began having problems with Music/iTunes right away with being able to download purchased songs, copy and paste any songs (even songs I've had forever on my drive) or drag-and-drop any of them, so we backed-up and then erased the main drive and reloaded all fresh up-to-date apps. But still the problems persisted with Music/iTunes. The program would freeze up when trying to download purchased songs; and it was still not allowing me to copy and paste. I clicked Get Info and noticed that all my songs listed the location of the song as icloud, not my hard drive. But when I clicked on the download arrow to the far right of the songs the app would freeze again. I force quit; and then to reopen the app I'd have to restart the computer. I took it to a Genius Bar and we tried a few things until the preference labeled "Would you like to move and rename the files in your new Media folder to match the “Keep Media folder organized” appeared and we checked YES. Music/iTunes then reorganized the files, and we then we clicked the download arrow in the top right of a playlist, the music downloaded and connected to my external drive. I don't know why this happened because all of this music was already downloaded (we're talking 30,000 songs), but now I could copy and paste the songs. However, one day after coming back from the Genius Bar, the download option is acting glitchy again. I'm getting this error reading: Unknown error -50, that appears to be related to any number of issue, including a corrupted iTunes. Just now, I just tried to redirect my Music/Settings/Files to a new subfolder on my external drive, clicked yes again on "Keep Media folder organized", the files re-organzied again, I was able to download about two songs, and now Music is frozen again with the spinning beach ball. This is a maddening issue because no one I've talked to at Apple appears to have encountered this issue so they can't tell me how to fix it. I'm beginning to suspect the new Ventura is screwing up iTunes in some way. Is anyone else having this problem?

Have you created a playlist folder or a smart playlist in error? You cannot drag tracks directly into either of these.

We understand you no longer have the option to create playlists in the iTunes program. We're happy to offer some guidance.

Which macOS version are you using under Apple menu () > About This Mac?

As a test, instead of dragging, try right-clicking on a song and use the "Add to Playlist" function. Does that work, or are you unable to add a playlist then either?
