Internet shows software update available however device says no update available

The original model iPad Air is not compatible with recent version of iPadOS. Check to see if your iPad model is listed here: iPad models compatible with iPadOS 15.2 - Apple Support

Not every update is available for every device (that’s why Apple releases newer models every year (more features to enrich peoples lives)). 😉
