Missing icons - not recently added but old

Ok I tried the settings/home screen select home screen and rebooted and icons still not there, plus how long is “recently added” for? I see in the App Library apps I’ve added MONTHS ago still in the “Recently added” group but nothing to make it show normally on Home Screen.

any other ideas? Have two new iPhone 13’s.

iPhone 13, iOS 15

Good afternoon Tomax777,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you are missing icons for apps on your iPhone 13, and we'd like to help.

How many app icons are missing on your Home screen?

Are the same apps missing on both of your new iPhones?

Working with one iPhone at a time:

  1. Make sure you have a current backup of your iPhone, which includes app data.
  2. Update your iPhone to iOS 15.2
  3. Search for the app on your iPhone. If it is found in the App Library or one of your other screens, and you may need to drag it to the Home screen.
  4. If the issue persists, delete the app with the missing icon, restart your iPhone, and download the app again.
  5. You will need to repeat these steps on the second iPhone.

The resources below will provide some guidance:

Back up iPhone - iPhone User Guide

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Organize the Home Screen and App Library on your iPhone

Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Redownload apps and games from Apple

Take care.

Hi Tomax777,

We can't explain why the app icons got rearranged, but glad to hear the apps were on your iPhone and did not have to be redownloaded. The App Library is a new feature that was added to help organize all of your apps, so you should be able to find any installed app there. Then you can move and organize apps how you wish on the Home and subsequent screens. The most recent app you purchase or download will appear on the next available screen if your Home screen is full.

Enjoy your day!
