Music library uneditable (Monterey 12.1)

Since the software update to Monterey 12.1, Music is unable to remember/save changes I make to songs (e.g., ratings, genres, etc.), as edits revert automatically after a couple of minutes. Even when I delete songs from my library, they just reappear a couple of minutes later. This bug has now made my entire library, which I've been curating for 15 years, uneditable. A very sad day for Apple users. #bringbackthejoyofmusic

So I've come up with a temporary solution (until Apple fixes this issue) that seems to be working for me. I have the playlist that I'm going to be editing songs in open on both my Mac and my iPhone. When I get to a song that I want to delete, I delete it on my Mac's side and see if the song disappears from the playlist on my iPhone as well (give it a few seconds) and vice versa. If it does then I continue editing my songs and at the end of my session go File -> Library -> Update Cloud Music Library. The edits then stick and is up to date on all devices. When deleting a song from the Mac's side, but it doesn't disappear from the playlist on the iPhone, then reboot the Mac and try again until it works both ways (i.e. edits on iPhone happens on Mac and vice versa). Remember to Update Cloud Music Library once you are done editing for the day.

This issue has been quite the headache but it seems that the above steps (at least for me) is a good workaround while I'm waiting for Apple to fix this.

Hope this works for some of you as well!

Thank you so much!

Library is now editable in Monterey 12.1 after I logged out from Apple Music and turned off Home Sharing on my phone. Then I rebooted my computer and switched the library successfully.

One more question, what does Home Sharing exactly do? I do not have it on, and everything is still synced in Apple Music on my iPhone and Macbook, so what is the point of Home Sharing?

Hi. I updated to Monterey 12.1 a week ago and now I'm having this same problem =( I don't have Home Sharing activated, and in my case the problem is happening very randomly and messing all the metadata in multiple scenarios.

Example, I rated dozens of songs a few days ago (after the update) and now, three days later, about half of those songs have the ratings disappeared. I start rating again and a few of them are losing the rating as soon as I open any other app and return to Music.

Playlists: I add a song to a playlist, and then a few hours - days later, the song is gone from the playlist.

And finally, I noticed is happening even to old songs that I just played. Example, a song that I added to my library like a year ago, was rated, and present in multiple playlists. I played that song for the first time in months, and a few minutes after playing it the rating was lost, it was removed from all playlists, it's like I just added it today (though the reproduction count shows correct number of plays).

This is extremely frustrating =(
