iTunes not recognising new iPhone 12 Mini

Trying to restore a backup to my new iPhone 12 but iTunes will not recognise the new phone (it recognised it briefly for about 2 seconds at one point but thats it)


Nothing wrong with cables etc and the iPhone is recognised in finder and in Photos..


Have tried restarting, re-installing iTunes... nothing seems to be working


Any help appreciated - thanks!

Thank you for the reply. If you can see the iPhone in Finder, could it be that you should be looking in Finder to backup your iPhone? This would be the case if you have macOS Catalina, 10.15 or later. Check out the following resource for help:




If Finder or iTunes still doesn't show your iPhone, If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open would be the next closest article you can follow. Technically, both iTunes and Finder are part of the macOS, so to update, you'd need to "update the software on your Mac" and skip step 4. You can also try these additional isolation steps:



If it is showing you a message that you "cannot connect" review If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services.
