Disable animations in Mission Control when moving from one space to another when using keyboard shortcuts

Dear community,

Does anyone know how/if it is possible to disable animations entirely when switching spaces (not just with the "reduce motion" setting)? On the MacBook Pro and using the trackpad to move around with three fingers, the transition is quick enough to not be bothersome, but using the default keyboard shortcuts (Control + Left and Control + Right), it is excruciatingly slow, either when changing the direction to switch spaces or when Mission Control is displaying the desktops at the top while showing all windows.

I doubt the machine is the culprit:

macOS Monterey 12.1

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021)

Chip Apple M1 Max

Memory 32 GB

Switching virtual desktops instantly is achievable with a crappy laptop using something like i3wm on Linux. I wonder if there is a terminal setting that can be changed for this to work on macOS in a similar fashion.

Thank you very much for your help. Enjoy the holidays!

Thank you Igo: this is indeed a potentially viable solution, although the need to disable SIP (System Integrity Protection) is a downer.

For now, I settled on using Raycast as a Spotlight replacement and I switch directly to applications via keyboard shortcuts instead of fighting against Mission Control. Not really a solution, but a good enough workaround for me at this time. 🤷‍♂️

Cheers!
