MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) Built-in Retina Display problems
My display does not show photos or websites in true color. See also the attached screenshots as it should be (they both in really bad condition but one screenshot taken with iPhone in true colours and the other showing the reality on MacBook Pro). I went to the apple contract work shop and after they have "checked", what I really doubt they did but charged me for the check, I was told that the display needs to be replaced and it will cost about 1.150 US$ + the 60 US$ I have already paid (in Iceland everything is a bit more expensive!!!). Since I am not a technician, specialised inn Apple I have to take things as they are but fortunately we have GOOGLE.
There are many complaints about that Apple Service provider just going to change the whole display for high prices instead of just repairing the problem - the defect cable connections at the hinge. Moreover, I figured out after one guy in a forum mentioned, it can possibly checked very easy what would be the problem by trying to close the display and to see if the display shows the right colours in another positions it would be when fully opened. And lo and behold, in a position of about 30 degrees opening, the display shows the true colours. Unfortunately not a working position.
All this I have told the guys in the service station, but seemingly it is not considered and guy was just opening, looking at the screen, and then saying -display needs to be changed-. Another problem in connection with this problem, my screen startled flickering the same time the display colours changed. As I found in internet, the "automatic graphic switching" to be turned off, it works.
Is there anyone having the same problem and experience with a good advise what to do? The option to change the display isn't the best one, better to change to a new laptop but after 4,5 years????
I know I cannot convince the guy in workshop to do things as they might be the right solution for repairing my Mac???
But to consider my high price MacBook Pro is at the end of its life circle after 4,5 years?
