Can I wireless charge my AirPods Pro case with a protective case on them.

I want to buy the wireless charging base for the phone, airpods and watch, but I want to make sure that the base will charge my airpods while I have a protective outer case on it. Would I have to take the extra case off everytime? I can't find any information to let me know if I have to or not.

Hi LinFay,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand you'd like to know if the case you have on your AirPods charging case will interfere with wireless charging. Anything placed between the case and the wireless charger could potentially interfere with the stand's ability to provide charge to your devices. This is discussed in detail here:

How to wirelessly charge your iPhone

  • "Wireless charging uses magnetic induction to charge your iPhone. Don't place anything between your iPhone and the charger. Magnetic mounts, magnetic cases, or other objects between your iPhone and the charger might reduce performance or damage magnetic strips or RFID chips like those found in some credit cards, security badges, passports, and key fobs. If your case holds any of these sensitive items, remove them before charging or make sure that they aren’t between the back of your iPhone and the charger."

Although this resource and statement are referring to iPhone, the same technology is used to charge your AirPods. You can learn more about charging your AirPods here:

Cheers!
