Every time I boot up my MacBook Air, Apple News pops up. How do I stop it from doing this?

Thank you for responding. I have gone to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and clicked on my user name and selected Login items. There is nothing in the list. Yet Apple News always pops up. What else can I do?
Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
Ensure that you do not have News selected to start up with your Mac
