Grazie mille

Hello,

Yes, as you mentioned, drivers for the MG3100 series from the Canon support sites appear to be available up to macOS High Sierra only. This does not necessarily mean that it is impossible to use them with at least a few newer operating system versions, but that would be entirely experimental.

You could perhaps also check whether the Canon Printer Drivers v3.4 for macOS contains anything useful.

Which exact MG31xx do you have? The following printers are listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as supporting the driverless AirPrint technology.

  • Canon MG3110
  • Canon MG3120
  • Canon MG3130
  • Canon MG3140
  • Canon MG3150
  • Canon MG3170
  • Canon MG3180

An AirPrint-enabled model can be used without additional drivers, provided that the printer and the computer are connected to the same network (router).

Hi jacopo114,

You're welcome! Thank you for the information. Glad to hear that you can use the printer with drivers.

When AirPrint is not working, and if necessary, the following power-cycling sequence can be tested: Power off the (Wi-Fi) router, the printer(s), the computer, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer(s). Wait a minute or two. Power on the computer. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.

Sometimes, with modern routers (with automatic device detection and band selection), it may be worth checking dual-band settings (temporarily, one can try 2.4 GHz only, for example).

Today I reinstalled macOS Big Sur and when I try to add a wireless or usb printer I get this message. I solved the problem with the other printer by downloading the drivers from the official site, but for this printer the drivers are available for macOS High Sierra and earlier. I never had any driver problems until yesterday, how can I fix this?
Thanks so much

Ok, the text in the picture means: Software for this printer is not available from Apple. Contact the printer manufacturer for the latest software.
