If you are in a bind, then you can use the tip of your nose as well.

The reason that your gloves do not work (some are made to work) is because the iPhone’s touch screen does not react to pressure but reacts to the bioelectricital charge in your skin (finger). When the glove or anything else is in between the touch screen and the finger, then it does not work. Note that there are gloves in the market that are designed to work with touch screens.

I have a pair of running winter gloves, primarily designed for wind-cutting and a bit looser than they once were before I lost weight. I did seem to recall they had "touchscreen pads" on forefinger and thumb, and nothing on the other fingers so I dug them out (warm winters where I live now). Whoodathunkit ... the special pads work on my iPhone8 and the "no pad" fingers do not!

If you buy ones that properly fit your fingers you might find they work very well. But if you do not want to risk even trying some at Macy's or Dillard's or JCPenney's before buying, you are free to do that.

I have seen advertisements for gloves that have special finger-pads that work like the skin below. I just did a search and it gave several options ... look for "touchscreen winter gloves".

I have heard of these for a while, and I assumed "touchscreen gloves" would not be able to promise and still sell if they did not work.
