import pictures (from a Lumix 3/4 camera) to Photos (macOS Monterey) does not work

trying since a while to import pictures form my camera (using the SD card in an USB-C adapter) to my MacBook Pro 13" (2020) with MacOS Monterey and cannot not import to Photos although these are .JPEG (.JPG) format (not .RAW).

Photos mentions (sometimes, not by all trial to transfer) that the format is not compatible. It worked flawlessly before Monterey, then so la, la, before the latest update (12.1), now, no chance.

What is a solution to get this fixed? It is quite annoying as my Photos library is now useless.

Thanks Yer_Man, yes, I can see and import using the Finder, so teh content can be read and transferred, but even transferred, Photos does not import the files, extremely strange. Will try the formatting, hope it is then supported by the camera.

reformatted the SD card using Disk Utility

The card must be reformatted in your camera. There's a setting somewhere in the menus. That is the only way your camera can work with the card and, indeed, any photo app can.

Thanks Tony, the library is on the HD, in the Pictures folder, as usual. When upgrading to Monterey I started getting issues, and now with the latest update (MacOS Monterey 12.1), can no longer import pictures into Photos.

I have been using Photos (iPhoto in the past) since ages, and the issue just happens now.

Actually I had to reformat the card in the camera as I got a message saying the format was wrong, although my camera swallowed the Mac formatting, but either, or, no improvement at all.

Definitively a compatibility issue with Photos.
