Text Notification does not sound

My phone rings but the text message notification sound does not. The phone is not on silent. How can I get the notification sound to work?

You m might want to try the tips in these articles (links below) from Apple Support.

"Change notification settings on iPhone"

Says:

In Settings , choose which apps can send notifications, change the alert sound,

set up location-based alerts, allow government alerts, and more.

"Use tones and ringtones with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch"

Says:

Set a ringtone or text tone for a contact

1. Open the Contacts app and tap a person's name.
2. In the upper-right corner of the person's contact card, tap Edit.
3. Tap Ringtone or Text Tone, then choose a new sound.
