Apple HomePod mini

I have just recently bought an HomePod mini and haven’t been able to set it up, the setup screen doesn’t pop up when I turn it on and it randomly starts beeping very loudly.

I cannot reinstall my HomePod When I unplug and restart the HomePod it does not give a chime or pulsing white light. Instead a small Chiron says move closer or tap to connect. Nothing happens when I tap the Chiron. What is going on?

Not sure what the loud beep is about though. If you feel it’s defective you can return it.
