Question

How save Music Memos files from my iPhone 6 (OS 12)?

I have an iPhone 6, which is not compatible with OS 13 or anything later. Apple Support instructions require someone to have OS 14 to enable exporting of Music Memos to Voice Memos, which I cannot do.

Is there another way I can export the files directly to my Mac somehow? (I tried downloading iMazing software, but couldn't find the find the files that way either.)

Please help!!! I have 4+ years of song ideas I don't want to lose..! :)

Your iPhone 6 has a lightning connection, so you can use a SanDisk iXpand-flashdrive, see:

So transfer the Music Memos files to the SanDisk iXpand-flashdrive, then transfer to your macOS computer.

You can use a SanDisk iXpand-flashdrive as an external hard drive, or as a tool to save the photos to a real external hard drive afterwards.

They are available in various sizes, available at Apple Store and at Apple Authorized Service Providers.

iXpand-flashdrive app can be downloaded from the App Store.

Thank you, Raicya. Yes, I've seen the article. The article points to instructions that I refer to above in my post:

However, my iPhone is too old to use the suggested OS version, and the "Export to Voice Memos" call to action does not appear on my phone, unfortunately. :)

If anyone else has any thoughts/ideas, please share.

Hi, read that article again, I quote:

You’ll now see a “Recording is moving to Voice Memos” prompt when you open Music Memos. Tapping “export” will send all of your stuff over to Voice Memos in a folder labeled Music Memos. You can also just tap “OK” to dismiss the export reminder for another week. If you create new recordings with Music Memos after exporting, just remember to copy those over as well.<<

Yes, thank you, I read that. This part -- "You’ll now see a “Recording is moving to Voice Memos” prompt when you open Music Memos. " -- does not seem to happen on my phone, and there seems to be no way to trigger that prompt, or navigate to it, within the app.
