iPhone won't ring when Facebook App is open

I also spent time with Apple support got no answers, after Apple had me do everything possible to fix problem, took phone to carrier twice, they couldn’t figure it out, went to Best Buy, they found nothing wrong, there’s no fix.

Something has to be done there are still many people that are not aware of this ,,the other day I did an update to Facebook and noticed the FB home button was in the form of a file, this is when it seemed to have resolved the problem, after 10-15 minutes the home button went back to the usual little house and the problem came back

Maybe we should contact one of those law firms that do class action suits.

$1200 is a lot to pay for a phone that has nothing but problems that Apple can’t fix. They need to make it right or compensate us.

I have just done another test. If I open the Facebook app and call my phone it rings. If I then leave the Facebook app open still and ring again it doesn’t ring just alerts me silently there’s an incoming call. I have always had auto play videos turned off.

Quite simple. Because initially I didn’t realise it was an issue with the FB app so I asked Apple. Afterwards I checked to see when it happened and realised it was always when the FB app was open. Although It would be interesting to know how a third app can affect iPhones to such a degree yet nothing can be done to improve the matter.

I’ve tried all those possibilities and nothing works , it may work 1 or2 times but then stops working there is something in the back round that we don’t have access to,, I tried on my sisters android phone and she DOES NOT have this problem,,, who knows maybe Facebook paid apple to have this priority , just saying

This is a security issue - we purchased your phone primarily to make & receive calls the app functions are secondary to this, the facebook app is controlling the primary OS function of the phone, the app should not be approved by Apple while it operated this way, this will be the last Apple phone we have purchased until issues like this are resolved

It didn’t last for me. I was the only thing that appeared to work, but it stopped working. I agree with everyone that is saying Apple really needs to look into the FB App it is trying dominate your phone to the point it is not letting your phone ring if the App is open. That is a failure.

I don’t think that is correct. My wife have stated to me several times that she is not having this issue. This morning she said, hey I happen to have my phone in my hand and it visually notified of a call, but it is not ringing. I think a lot of people don’t realize that it doesn’t effect AirPods, watches, etc. you might just think it is fine because your other devices are alerting you.

THANK YOU! I have spent over 8 hours in the past 2 days with 4 different apple support advisors, none of whom knew about this. The senior advisor had me wipe my whole phone and restore,& when it didn’t resolve made me an appointment to get a new phone!!!!! Then he told me it’s a Facebook problem & only they can fix it. Now I have to restore my entire phone. HUGE waste of time. I should’ve Googled first instead of calling Apple Support!!!!

But it didn’t used to happen until the latest IOS upgrade. Don’t think it’s FB. I thought I was going crazy, so glad I’m not! I’ve now gotten to the point I don’t even want to look at FB anymore so I won’t miss a call 😩

As you can see below. Since Jan. 2, just on this page alone, so many have tried and tried to resolve. Even Apple techs were given opportunity and fail. Adjusting the Blue Tooth setting will get you one free pass and then it fails.

Same with me! Adding a profile to my phone so they can record what’s happening to have the engineers try and figure out why to no avail. My CarPlay has totally failed me. It keep freezing on me and disconnecting my GPS, cutting off my phone calls and text messaging, and now, even my radio!

The Apple rep I was working with has even stopped communicating with me.

If my entire life wasn’t on this darn phone, I’d have already moved to an Android.

What I so want to understand is how is it that my family members and friends with iPhones, some with same model, have no problems at all, yet there are so many of us struggling!!!

I hate to tell you that the rep I was working with to weeks, who has since abandoned me, told me they a new phone isn’t going to help unless I use it clean. That means I lose what I have on my phone currently and I can’t do that. He said the phone itself isn’t the issue. It’s the software so if you put stuff on the new phone you’re putting the problem there too.

If only it was that easy... full screen helps once to allow your phone to ring and then it all goes back to broken! The full screen does allow us to see the call coming in... but there is never sound....

Just wondering how much FB paid Apple to make sure we stay on FB!!!!!
