Logic Constantly Crashes

Hi Everyone,

I've been a Logic user for some time now but recently, I'm suffering crashes every session. It seems to be when I'm using a Native Instruments product such as Kontakt or Guitar Rig. All the software is purchased and licensed to me. Can anyone please help? I've included the problem report.

I'm using the the new M1 chip iMac 24inch

Does it also crash when using built-in audio instead of apollo?

Do you have any plugins installed?

If you have 3rd party plugins installed, make sure they are compatible. You may have to change to Rosetta Mode.

I suggest to reinstall Logic Pro and delete your preference file. Maybe something goes wrong during migration from the old Mac. Follow this guide: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200260

Also update all plug-ins and drivers.

so, after wiping my iMac, installing the OS as new (no migration from an earlier Mac this time

) and installing 600Gb of plug-ins... Logic is still crashing. Error log included. can anyone help please?

I agree with Enrize a re-install might help. I always recommend NOT to use the migration tool transfering Logic or other complex audio software onto a new computer except it's the same computer modell and MacOS. Especially when moving to a new computer with a new chip structure, new macos and new software, I really recommend to do a clean install.

Thanks both, I’ve deleted the preference files and reinstalled logic. It’s not that easy to recreate the action to make logic crash but it’ll happen sooner or later if it’s going to. If it does happen again I’ll take the iMac back to factory settings and start as if it were new (is this possible)?

Where before it was hard to re-create the event that led to Logic crashing, now I can make it happen everytime but clicking the duplicate track button.

The track I'm duplicating is running a Korg M1 virtual instrument with Guitar Rig and Replica XT FX plus ins.

Hi Ben, yes, I've tested using the Mac's inbuilt audio and it still crashes.

I've enabled Rosetta mode already.

It doesn't seem like a crash from a plug-in. Is this a new MacOS/Logic setup or a copy from Time Machine backup?

What if you save a copy of the project with a new name and disable/delete all plugins. Then reboot logic and start the project with no plugins. Does it still crash?

I think I’ve fixed it now. I went to finder - get info - and made sure everything was being opened with Rosetta. Thanks for your help.

Hi Ryan, I would try to Update Kontakt and Guitar Rig or all the plug-ins involved.
