I WANT SOUNDS on my phone! It won't make text alert sounds if watch set to haptics! (Now fixed)

Apple doesn’t view the Watch and the paired iPhone as different devices. The Watch operates as an extension of the iPhone, when in proximity of the paired iPhone.

Per Apple, Your Apple Watch notifications mirror your iPhone settings, but you can customize the settings for each app. In watchOS 5 and later, notifications can be organized by app and grouped in stacks in Notification Center. For example, all your activity notifications can appear in a stack. You can also choose whether or not you get alerts for notifications, so they appear silently or not at all.

Enable notifications on the iPhone, and make sure the watch is not in Theater Mode.

I have enabled notifications, disabled notifications, enabled them again… (made sure to check that it wasn’t in theatre mode — it isn’t)… tried re-starting, then unpairing and re-pairing… nothing makes it work for all my texts — I did get a sound for one friend but that was it… am now erasing and re-pairing and will see if that helps! Thank you for answering though! I was hoping it was just a setting somewhere obscure… they have worked so well for so long.. thank you for trying.
