Battery problems on Ipad Pro 2016

Hi guys, good evening.

I've recently bought a refurbished Ipad pro 2016 (9,7") but I have some problems with the battery.

Before starting, I want to underline that the log file shows a 94% of maximum battery capacity and 348 recharging cycles and I've updated it to IpadOs 15.2

Now, here's the problem: With a screen brightness about the 25% and using Procreate, in 2,5-3 hours the battery goes from 80 to 20%.

Instead, with a full screen brightness, a complete charge lasts 3 hours (100 to 20%) just using Note (with Ipad pencil).

I need to work on procreate for at least 5-6 hours with a brightness of 80% so, what should I do to reach such performances? Or, is there a way to reach them? I'll be grateful for any suggestion or solution you can provide me.

That iPad Pro model is over 5-years old, now.

ALL batteries degrade over time.

New iOS/iPadOS devices with brand new batteries, get UP to 10 hours of battery life.

I have two older 2015/2016, 12.9 inch screen iPad Pro models.

One gets between 4-5 hours and the other averages about 6.5 hours.

There is one thing left to try.

See if Apple will do a battery replacement of that older iPad model.

Be advised, Apple DOES NOT repair or replace batteries in iPads.

To expedite quick and speedy service, Apple and Apple store locations ONLY do in/out of warranty device replacement.

I am NOT even sure Apple will replace that iPad ( in lieu of an actual battery replacement ) as that iPad is pretty old, now, and may NOT have any replacement devices, of that vintage, to offer you as a battery replacement device.

If there is NO external, physical damage to that iPad, whatsoever, the costs for a device replacement, in lieu of an actual battery replacement, is $99 U.S.D..

You could try and search online for your nearest, “local” Apple store location and call contact phone numbers and call to make an appointment to have your Apple iPad diagnosed and options presented you.

Failing that,

Okay,

So, you are convinced that this is not some sort of battery issue.

Since this is a refurbished device, it is most likely that iPad has a third party replacement battery installed.

It is a lesser battery that was replaced in this refurbished iPad,,though.

Both of my 2015/2016, 12.9 inch screen iPad Pro models still have their original battery Apple had installed inthese iPad Pro models and these batteries were 10,000 mAh hour batteries.

Both iPads together average about 5-5.5 hours of charge.

After ANY iOS/iPadOS upgrade/update, you should ALWAYS perform a simple hard reset of your Apple mobile device.

For iPad models with a Home button, do a simple hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake/power button simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

OR

For much newer design iPad models, without a Home button, try the new simple hard reset procedure for the new 2018/2020/2021 iPad Pros, 2020 iPad Air 4 and 2021 iPad Mini 6 models.

1. Press and release the volume up button.

2. Then immediately press and release the volume down button.

3. Then, press and hold the single sleep/wake/power button You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018 iPad Pro will boot up completely to the iPad Pro’s Lock screen.

Things to try to preserve battery life, in case the Hard Reset did not work for you.

Thank you Michael but I don't think is a degradation matter (I mean, I know that the battery has been used, but a new one has 7306 mah, mine at the full charge reaches 6900 mah. The degradation is less than 6% of the original one).

In plus, using the Ipad just to look videos (on Artstation Learning App, for example) the battery lasts 8-9 hours. I think is more a software/setting/Os problem than a battery one. Unfortunately, I'm quite skilled on other devices and Os, but this is my first Apple product so I don't really know how to use or set it.

One last question: using the iPad plugged to the 12W charger does not affect the duration of its battery (always speaking in terms of "degradation" and charging cycles)?
