Smart Keyboard symbols mixed up / no ampersand

Hi

i have an iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard Folio. I recently added Spanish to the keyboards )don{t know if this as anything to do with the English keyboard problem or not=

you can kind of see the problems i have trying to use the symbols above the number on the Smart Keyboard.

here{s the symbols for 1 through 0

let{s see’’ 1, 3, 4, 5 are correct

i have tried changing English to English International, English QWERTY, English UK based on ideas on the internet without success.

It sounds like you are looking in the wrong place. Go to settings > general > keyboard > hardware keyboard and tap over at the right edge. Make sure US is checked there and NOT "automatic" or something else.

Indeed the output you describe looks like the Latin American Spanish mapping is active instead of US.

Tom—thank you. I changed to US from US international and that didn’t solve the problem. BUT your saying that the output looks like Latin American Spanish got me to delete the Spanish keyboard—and that worked!!!! Thank you thank you.

If you want to keep the Spanish keyboard (for example in order to have Spanish spellcheck if you need to type in that language), you just go to the Hardware Keyboard area for that language and tap over at the right edge and check US. Then it does not matter which keyboard you are using, the mapping will always be US.
