Why don't I get Messages notifications on my iPhone?

When I get new SMS messages, my iPad plays the notification sound, I get a notification on my iMac, but my iPhone only vibrates. I have made sure I have Notifications on for my iPhone and that I am not using Focus mode. I've also rebooted my iPhone.

I did set up shortcuts to turn on Do Not Disturb and turn it off. I've repeatedly pressed the button to turn DND off. I can't think of anything left on my phone that would prevent me from getting notifications. (Voice calls do ring, if that helps with narrowing it down.)

Hmmm. It never behaved like that until within the past couple weeks. But it's happening even when I'm out on our lot and have Wifi off. While both the house and barn are on the same wifi (joined by fiber optic cable, but over 300' apart), I've had wifi turned off (since it's spotty outside the buildings), and been down at the barn when my iPad and iMac are at the house (in other words, way out of range), and my iPhone still won't play my notification sound.

(I've purposely set my notification sound to Sherwood Forest, which is several notes, since just a short ping or a 2 note tone was easily missed when I was working with the tractor and listening to music, so it's not easy to miss a text notification.)
