Apple Fitness + won't connect to Apple watch or stuck on confirm on your Apple watch.

I have 2 apple tv 4k device an apple watch series 5 and when I first started Apple fitness it was working for a while then itbsudenlty stopped connecting. I get the connect option on my watch and then on the tv it's just spinning for ages "confirming". I have tried resetting my watch that works for a couple of sessions then it eventually does the same.

I have reset my Apple tv to factory thinking it was an update. Still same issue. I can screen share from my iPhone but that defeats the purpose I need Apple fitness on Apple tv for. Apple please fix this issue as it's frustrating we can't use this property.

Tried two things on Sunday which seems to have fixed it.

I unpaired my watch from phone and paired it again and while doing that, found out you can force quit apps on your apple tv just like you can do on your phone. So I did that as well and issue appears to be fixed for now…

But if it happens again, I would force app closing the app on my Apple TV first since I don’t think the watch was the issue. Hope this helps!

Force quit apps on AppleTV:

  1. While on the Home screen, double-click the Apple TV/Home button on the Siri Remote. It is the top button on the right side of the face of the remote with a TV icon on it.
  2. Swipe to the right on the trackpad to find the app you wish to force-close.
  3. Swipe up on the trackpad to force the app to close.

his solution worked once for me - since then it has not. I have contacted Apple support - reset my watch - my tv, my phone. The whole lot - this still didn't make it any better. I gave Apple access to what ever data they wanted and they said they would be back within 48 hours. That was a week ago. Starting to get very frustrated with this. I am only purchased the Apple TV for the Fitness plus. Now to ensure that I can do a workout when I want I am using an iPad - starting to get annoyed at this stage.

I had been using this trick and it was working just fine, but it stopped working yesterday - when I Airplayed it to my AppleTV, the workout could play for a bit but the Airplay would simply just stop and the workout on my iPhone would stop simultaneously. The Airplay trick was the only way I could get Fitness Plus to work on my AppleTV and now I've lost this option as well. It's incredibly frustrating.

This is happening to me too for the past 2 weeks. I’ve checked my watch OS, Apple TV Update, phone update. Everything is up to date. When I try to pair my Apple TV fitness app to my watch. My watch does have a connect pop up. However my Apple TV just spins and then the entire fitness app crashes. The only way I’m working out now is my doing it on my phone and then air playing it to my Apple TV. It’s really annoying though because I can’t see my heart rate….

This is only a temporary solution. I agree it fixes it at first, but comment back in a week or two. It progressively takes longer and longer to connect and you’ll have to do it all over again. It is a workaround, not a solution. Apple needs to fix this, and telling people to re-pair their watch every week or two is not a fix.

Thank you for sharing. I tried to call a few weeks ago and got a message that they’re only available 7-7 central time. I coincidentally commute/work at exactly that time so I tried the chat feature which works outside of those hours, but it just tells you they don’t support help with Apple TV by chat. This thread with 40+ “me too” and people documenting their configuration should be enough for Apple to take action. In an act of desperation, I even tried emailing Tim Cook and Eddy Cue (head of services) linking them to this thread and a related thread on MacRumors. Fingers crossed someone is taking action.

I am having the exact issue. Thanks to everyone for posting, thought i was going crazy. I have Apple Watch 7 with os 8.4 Apple TV 4K with 15.3 and iPhone 13 pro with os 15.3 I have updated software, restarted all devices. And it doesn’t work still. I generally love apple but their support has been horrendous on this. Many times passing me to the next person or not calling back. I will try the pairing and unpairing

For those of you calling in, what are you saying to get directed to someone who will collect your diagnostics, etc.? Are you saying you have an issue with Fitness+, Apple Watch, AppleTV, or something else? What are you saying that gets you to someone who doesn’t waste your time asking you to reset/unpair your devices which all of us dealing with this for months now know is a waste of time?

I’ve unpaired my watch multiple times. Now (like many of you) my iPhone and iPad crash a few minutes into the workout when I try the workaround. I am bundled into a paid premium service that does not work. Infuriating.

Also, the fact that an engineer won’t look at your problem until the following week goes to show how (not) seriously Apple is taking this… if months of inaction weren’t enough evidence. So incredibly frustrating.

I basically told them the issue I had with the fitness app on apple tv along with all the troubleshooting steps I had done (devices are up to date, shutdown and restart each device, force quit app on apple tv, unpairing watch, works on phone not on tv, airplay not working but screenshare does but no stats on tv, informed them of this forum, told them that I won’t be unpairing watch every two weeks because that is not a fix).

I guess from that point, either I was lucky or that checked everything from their list of things to do, that they took it a step further. I felt right away supported and they were in contact with engineering team from day one, so of course it may take time to figure out solution as they’re gathering logs and trying things out out along the way.

I have same issue with my series 5 and apple tv 4K. Was using them together for several months then started seeing a progressively longer delay after pressing connect on watch. All devices fully updated I’ve even gone through and turned off every other wireless device in the house trying to fix it. Interestingly I can use the watch as a remote for the tv no problem. But can’t do a workout. Oh and the workaround to AirPlay cuts out offer a minute or two. Not good please fix this apple.

Thanks for the update. That’s what happened to me as well for two weeks, 3 secs to start a workout, then the apple tv update happened where they added to collections and went downhill from there to now it’s simply not working. I’m continuing to work with Apple, had another call yesterday where more logs were collected from phone and watch. Have a follow up call scheduled again for Wednesday

Feb 9, 2022 5:21 AM in response to Rhoninsc

I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence but I agree the timeline the issue has emerged coincides both with operating system updates and collection releases (which do not appear to be tied specifically to new operating system updates).

Can you please request they provide an expedited way any of us with the issue can share diagnostics? Each instance of someone talking to customer support seems to take an hour or more and that’s hard to carve out of a work day. I’ll gladly upload diagnostics data if I can do so outside of working hours.

Hope your call this evening goes well!

Feb 9, 2022 5:53 AM in response to bwahl86

Unfortunately don’t think there’s a way to share diagnostic because they first get you to install a profile that i assume allows them to communicate with your phone because the option to collect and send diagnostic info only shows up when they send the option to your phone.

As you can see, I am very active on this thread and share everything that is shared here to them but they would still prefer a support call so that they can find a pattern to isolate issue

I’ve been having this problem for a long time now. Today, my watch was taking 40 minutes plus to connect to Fitness+ on my TV and, in despair, I read through this thread. I just downloaded the software update onto my watch and tried again. Now it’s even worse! I’m getting the ‘Pairing Cancelled’ message and can’t get further than that. Really disappointed with Apple over this…
