Apple watch pings at night

The OP perfectly describes what my SE watch has started doing—it softly pings, and cycles through the same displays it makes when I first connect it to the charger. It is as if it is continually disconnecting and reconnecting to the charger.

Mine has started doing this since the update to WatchOS 8.5 a few nights ago. There is no problem with the charger so it must be down to a bug or corruption during the upgrade (or the upgrade helped create a forced obsolescence issue to make me buy a newer model)

Same issue here, happened since last update.

‘Pings’ all night on a charging stand doesn’t on factory cable. My wife has identical charging stand (but the smaller watch) with no issue. I have swapped the charging stands over mine still ‘pings’ hers does not.

So i guess the issue is with the watch not the Stand???

Apparently - if you do a bit of research in the internet - apple seems to have caused again a problem with the latest Update to WatchOS 8.5.1. Affected are mostly Watch Models 7 and also some Models 6 (as mine). Resetting, restarting etc. doesn't fix the problem.

ive discovered that putting my Apple watch 7 in silent mode before charging it, prevents the dings once charged, but I can see the face light up and darken repeatedly once charged 100%, that is when it would be beeping if I hadn’t silenced it before charging.

Mine is also pinging during the night. It seems fine at first, then in the middle of the night it starts, like it is trying to tell me it is fully charged. Sometimes if I take it off the charger, it stops. All started with the 8.5.1 update.

Mine does the same and so does my boyfriend ever since the update. This is very annoying and keeps us both up at night. We both use Apple Watch charging station 3-1 and this should not be an issue and needs to be fixed.

Not ideal but my work around is turn volume down completely as even putting it in silent mode does not stop it pinging, then put volume back up in morning when I put the watch on. On watch go to settings sounds and haptics and you will see volume control turn it right down till it is off.

Went to bed with Upgrade to 8.5.1 running last night and woke up in middle of night to watch beeping every couple minutes. Restarted it and same problem. Mine doesn’t beep while not on charger. While on charger face lights up and it beeps then face goes dark and repeats every minute or two.

Do you have a different power source you can connect the USB Apple Watch charger to, as a way to test whether the same behavior occurs from another USB power source?

If possible, test with another Apple Watch USB charger, connected to more than one USB power source as well.

This may help isolate whether the issue is the wall charger or USB port, Apple Watch USB charger, or an issue occurring on the Apple Watch itself.

Another example where Apple cannot design decent accessories, so instead create software blockers to stop you using better designed solutions. What ever that behaviour is triggered by it is obviously something they can reverse, I have gone in to sounds and haptics on the settings and turned the volume to 0 this does not stop the software bug, but does mean it no longer wakes me

I've started setting my watch to silent (swipe up and tap the bell so it turns red and with a slash mark) right before I take it off and put it on the charger. That seems to stop the chiming. It still lights up once it gets close to 100%, but I leave it far enough away and tilted so it doesn't bother me. Hope this helps others until Apple decides to fix it.

Mine is exactly the same. Once fully charged it continuously pings. Take it off the charger and it stops. ****** annoying!

I have trouble enough sleeping and now this - only after the upgrade. Fix this Apple!
