Is there a way to adjust the volume directly on my AirPods 3 without using Siri?

Why is there no direct way to adjust volume? I bought my first pair of AirPods the other day (I chose AirPods (3rd generation), and I am surprised to find that I cannot adjust the volume without either (a) speaking aloud to Siri, or (b) pulling my phone out of my pocket and turning the volume up or down there.

You may go to Preferences, Bluetooth, near your AirPods 3 should be ℹ️ icon. Press it. There will be preferences of your Headphones, find “Press and Hold”, and you may be able to turn on volume.
