Firmware download

Pls I connected my iPhone to iTunes and it was asking for update, it gave me 2 options download and install or download so I click on download in other for me to be able to get the firmware and use later for another device, but after using my 5.56Gig to download it I can't find the file again on my iTunes

I was trying to ask the char rep if I can download the update file directly to my laptop (just like any other download) using my Internet Download manager, and then simply import it into iTunes to install it on my iPhone. Its a simple yes or no question but the chat rep was no help at all. Can this be done?

It's been quite a while since I've used iTunes to update an iPhone, but I would suggest connecting your iPhone to your computer and iTunes again. The download you secured previously should be there and waiting for you to apply. Return to the software update panel in iTunes and it should invite you to update the iPhone.
