Airpods static on zoom only

I have new Airpods (second-gen), which are working perfectly on every device and app - my iphone, netflix & youtube, spotify... I have two different PCs, one for work and one personal, and they work across all devices EXCEPT when I'm using zoom. On Zoom, they have a loud background static. I can hear everyone and they can hear me, so they're connected, but the static is impossibly distracting. Huge bummer because I got them to use for work! I've seen a few others post about this issue but no actual resolution from Apple yet?

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're hearing static when using your AirPods on Zoom, and we'd like to assist. It does appear Zoom has an option to suppress background noise. This article explains more:

Have you tried adjusting your AirPods settings as well?
