High-quality Bluetooth audio codecs on iPhones
Hello,
I am certainly not the first one to ask about this, but is there a day where iPhones, or Apple products will allow to choose audio codecs, and will include new ones?
For the moment, the highest quality Bluetooth audio codec for supported on iPhone is AAC, Advanced Audio Coding, which has a bitrate that can only go up to 320kbps (which is decent), while new audio codecs exists, and are supported by many (not to say all) Android devices, as LDAC (Sony’s proprietary audio codec) that can go up to 990kbps (so 3 times AAC!, you can really hear the difference!), aptX-HD (Qualcomm), etc…
As an iPhone user, used to the Apple ecosystem, it would be great to see new audio codecs, to improve the Bluetooth audio quality on iPhones!
I recently bought a pair of Sony’s headphones, and quickly figured out there was no way to get LDAC on my phone, since it was not included in iPhones, while the encoder of LDAC is open-source and free of use!
I am certainly not the only one noticing this, and it would be great for everyone if we could have access to better sound quality!
Maybe this isn’t possible, i don’t know about the technical part of the thing, but it would be great if something was done!
Sorry if i bothered you, but i think it could be easy to fix this audio codec ‘problem’, and a lot of iPhone users would thank you, for getting a better sound in new updates.
Sorry for my potential english mistakes, too!
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Cordially,
Louis, a french iPhone user!
