Native Instruments – Propellerheads Reason – iZotope – Performance Problems on M1 MAX 16 inch MBP

I am on Reason with Native Instrumentes and iZotope products. I waited now so long to update my old 2013 Mac Pro and bought a M1 16 inch Max MacBookPro with 64 GB Ram. After the first tests I have seen on YouTube I thought that this machine would kill the performance of an 8 years old Mac Pro also with Rosetta 2. BUT – No. The Mac Pro is faster and better. Rosetta 2 is slowing down all my workflow. No plug in is running smooth. It was a mistake to buy a 4700€ machine yet. I never had an experience like this. The move to silicon is a nightmare for my musical work.

Has anyone else similar problems?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.1

After a long research and test session I found a solution which may help other users working with rosetta. If you are using a program which allows to boost performance by handling multiple processors and the program is only working in rosetta 2 than switch of the multi processors boost option.

In my case reason has a similar multi processor option like video editing programs. After turning off this option reason and all plugins including complex sound and instruments are working like a charm.

I didn't found any information about this but it would be helpful for other users to have a information about multi processor programs running in rosetta2 on apple FAQ page. :-)

Hope this will also work in other programs. Give it a try.
