Can I still Update?

Just opened my MacBook Pro for the first time since 2017 (bought it in Jan 2010). It's still working, all my stuff is still there and it connects to WiFi, just doesn't let me do anything in Safari or Chrome. Software update says it's up to date but it's running OS X Snow L 1.0. Is it possible to update?

Get the model year of your MacBook Pro from Apple menu > About this Mac and then go to Identify your MacBook Pro model - Apple Support and find yours and look at the "Newest compatible operating system" for it in order to see what it can be updated to.

Then see instructions in How to get old versions of macOS - Apple Support
