Unknown account on new iPhone

Got a brand new iPhone13 today and this email came up in the process of transferring information. Sales rep asked me to enter the password for this account and I told him I have no idea who ****** is. He blew me off and figured I let someone else download an app on my phone. I know for a fact this never happened. Then I do a Google search and find this has been going on with other users since at least 2012. Can anyone explain why this account is somehow linked to my phone???

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities Utley68,

If you're being prompted to enter those credentials to update an app or apps, try updating each app on your iPhone individually, until you isolate which app is prompting you for the unknown Apple ID details. Once isolated, the issue can be resolved simply by deleting the app. If it's an app you use, you can redownload with with your own ID.

How to manually update apps on your Apple device

Should you need more help, to increase your chances of getting a helpful response from the community, we recommend providing additional information. For example, can you describe the prompt that requests the unknown Apple ID credentials, including any text in the prompt says.

Did you transfer data, including apps, from another device? Have you ever seen a similar prompt on the previous device?

Cheers!
