Messages App Freezing intermittently after IOS 15 update

Why does my Messages app keep freezing up after updating to IOS 15? The only way to get it to start working again is to restart my phone. Sometimes I have to restart every couple hours or even more frequently. Even force closing the app doesn't allow it to wake back up. Once it freezes up, I can't even click on any setting in the settings app that deals with Message app.

Hi kennis36,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with Messages becoming unresponsive after updating. The first step we recommend is ensuring your device is updated to the current version of iOS as listed here:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Additionally, we would also recommend the steps in the following article:

If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

I’m running iOS 15.2 which is the latest update according to the settings>general>Software update on my phone. I’ve tried all those suggestions in the article. Rebooting the phone is the only thing that makes the messages app work again but it only works until I charge and then I have to reboot again. As far as I know, since messages is a stock app on iPhone, I can’t delete it and then reinstall it. So I’m still stuck at this point.
