Cannot save files after upgrade to Monterey 12.1

Upgrade to Monterey 12.1 has been a disaster. Cannot save MS Word, MS Powerpoint, MATLAB, and other app files. Do "save as" and get spinning wheel, with app showing not responding in Force Quit window.

Shut down, restart - no change. Hardware is MacPro.

If I could only turn back the clock and make Moneterey go away I could get some work done.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Try booting to Safe Mode. That boot up takes minutes and clears caches and other things that may resolve your problem.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

A lot of times just boot to Safe Mode followed by normal boot resolves problems.

Which MacPro? 2013 or 2019?
