My iPad internal battery is not holding a charge

well I given a second hand I Pad over last year in West Virginia as a gift but since last december while I was visiting friend and his family, and since that time being back home, I had to have it more on the power cord which now just isn't doing the job of charging, wondering since it had not been used for so long that the internal battery is losing its strength to hold a charge, what should I do?

I'm a new user of I Pads, was liking it a lot but it's at that point I can't use it and it some of my favorites sites on it and a couple of stored games I have gotten to like to have, but if it can't hold a charge there is no sense to even start it up, and use it, I am now at a loss as I gave my lenovo Pad to a friend who had nothing to use so it was just being a good friend to give him that,

I have no idea since this is a second hand I Pad, and I have no idea where my friend got it from his deceased families, place and said here I bet you will like this better than that small screen lenovo.

I won't throw it away, or wreck it or damage it as it is still nice to have.

Sincerely

Terry

Perhaps you should make an appointment at the nearest Apple Store for a battery replacement.
