Hi AFLADY,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. We see you have a question about unlocking notes in the Notes app, and we have a resource with some great information on this.

To clarify, it sounds like you want to remove the lock so you can open your notes without using a password. Is that right? If so, see the below, from the resource titled How to lock notes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch:

"Remove a lock

  1. Tap the locked note, then tap View Note.
  2. Enter your password, use Face ID, or use Touch ID.
  3. Tap the More button .
  4. Choose Remove.

When you remove a lock from a note, it's removed on all of the devices that you're signed in to with the same Apple ID."

You'll need to follow this process for each note, and you'll also need to enter the password that was originally used to lock the note.

Let us know if you have any questions. Take care.

There is a hint that was created by you for locked Notes, please use them. If you do not have one then please keep trying various passwords known to you.

There is no way of resetting the Notes password, however, you can create a new password for the new Notes that you would lock or create.

The only option that you have is to keep trying as there is no limit on the number of attempts.

However, you can set a new password for your new notes, but for the old notes, you need to get the old password only.

If you have imported some notes from Old iPhone to the new one then you will have to attach the password to the new Touch ID / Face ID on your new iPhone. At some given time you must have created a password and enabled touch Id / Face ID to the password. Any Notes created thereafter will only use your Touch ID / Face ID. Because of this, it is very likely that you may not recall the password now.

Face ID / Touch IDs are not transferable from one device to another.
