App Update - Apple ID

I need to update GarageBand to open new projects that were sent to me from a newer version. When I go to update it though, it's saying it can't because it was purchased/dowloaded with a different Apple ID. I have used the same Apple ID with all of my apple electronics though and I've only ever had one so that literally isn't possible. What should I do?

I want to update my iMovie but cannot because it says it was purchased with different Apple ID. I want to update my iMovie, and several other Apple Apps, but cannot because it says it was purchased with different Apple ID. I used that Apple ID 10 years ago but now have used a new ID using the same email address. I think there is a confusion there. Please help as I cannot use iMovie now that I have upgraded to Big Sur.

Assuming you have Big Sur or higher, trash the current version and re-download the new one with your current AppleID.
