I must have changed a setting somewhere but when I press spacebar in finder to enlarge a photo it doesn't work any more. Did I miss something? EDIT
This is in Monterey 12.0.1 not OS High Sierra 12.0

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

just selecting a photo in finder and hitting space bar. image comes up as small or smaller than finder image.
why aren't photos enlarging on spacebar press anymore
