Cannot send messages from my iPhone to a Samsung phone

I have an iPhone thirteen Pro. Have friends that have a Samsung phone. Go to send a text , they receive it. But I did not get their texts. I’ve been on the phone with Apple and Verizon. They have no clue

You cannot use iMessage to an android phone – your messages from your iPhone would just go as normal messages.
