When I connect TV to MacBook the TV only shows the desktop of the computer.
When I connect the TV to my MacBook Pro why does the TV only show the desktop of my MacBook and not the browser or any icons?

You are likely using extended display mode. Drag a window to the second display to view it. If you want to mirror your display check the mirror display box in your display settings.
