You should consult the instructions for the Sandisk player. Although it is referred to as an MP3 player, many modern players will play other audio formats, including Apple's m4a format (also known as AAC).

Dependant upon the previous question I asked about the whereabouts of your music, it's not a forgone conclusion that any of the music in your iTunes Library (and therefore on your iPod) will need to be converted. An iPod is "an MP3 player", just one with a fancy name. So the music in your library may be in m4a or MP3 format and your Sandisk may be able to play any of the formats you are using. Or you may find that only purchases from the iTunes Store need converting, while purchases from other online stores and your CDs do not.

You will have to see which formats you find and whether your player can play them those formats.
