Old App Store doesn’t work anymore

My 1st gen iPad and iPhone 3GS both have the old App Store (pre-iOS 7) and neither can update, download, or purchase apps. It will start the download, but immediately say “Unable to connect to App Store.” Did Apple kill support? I know it isn’t the connection.

Apps won’t update / download My App Store recognizes new available updates, but the update process fails. (On an iPhone 8) The same problem happens when I attempt to download a new app. (On an iPhone 8) Recently I reset an older model iPhone 6 as I no longer need it. Prior to doing that I didn’t experience anything unusual with my new iPhone 8 thanks in advance for the support.

All app support ended in 2015/2016 for the 2010, 1st gen iPad.

That iPad is soon approaching 12-years old.

It IS possible access to any of Apple's online stores has, maybe, been blocked to old iPad models.
