Safari error message "Not enough disk space" when I Have 250GB of free space.

Two days ago I upgraded from OS Big Sur to OS Monterey. Immediately I had problems with 3rd party plugins in Logic Pro, so I downgraded back to OS Big Sur. After wiping my HD drive clean and reinstalling OS Big Sur I then did a Time Machine restore.

Everything appeared to be back to normal, but today I discovered I am unable to download any files from the internet in Safari. I tried to download graphic files from Canva.com account and files from my dropbox account. All download attempts either appeared to download the file but the file was not downloaded, or I get the following message:

Safari could not download the file because the disk doesn’t have enough free space.

I clearly do not have a disk shortage with 250GB of free space on my Machintosh HD.

Somehow there is a setting that has changed or a corrupt file through the time machine restore or reinstallation of OS Big Sur after deleting Monterey.

I found some advice that suggested checking the user permissions—my permissions are set correctly to read & write. Other advice was to reinstall Safari but that appears to mean reinstalling the Mac OS again.

Please help.

Thanks.

SOLVED.

After doing a restore from Time Machine, even though the backup file was only a few days old, the restore installed an older version of Safari. After checking my computer for updates I found that in addition to the suggestion to update to the new Mac OS, there was also "another update available" (displayed as a link in blue text) which was for Safari 15.2.

After installing the Safari update, internet downloads are working again.
