family sharing - lost photos

My wife and I have shared an Apple account for years. yesterday we created a Apple account for her with family sharing. Today all of her pictures were gone and the back up is not in the icloud storage. I do not know why pictures she took on her phone would disappear off her phone but they did. Not sure what to do. Any help would be great as she wants to recover these photos.

Thanks

Rick

Hello rweste,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities!

We understand your wife created a new Apple ID but now she's missing her photos on her iPhone.

It sounds like she was using iCloud Photos on her device, and now they're not showing since she's using a new Apple ID.

If you sign in using the iCloud website, do the photos show under the Apple ID she was using? Here's the link: iCloud

This link has more details about iCloud Photos: Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support

If the issue remains, use these steps If you're missing photos or videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

We hope this can help locate her photos.

Cheers!
