11.6.2 update freezes during "processing installation" with 15 minutes to go

Macbook Air 2015 (or so) running 11.6.1 (Big Sur). I've downloaded 11.6.2 three times now, and every time the download goes just fine, taking about 20 minutes, and the system switches to "processing update" (or something... not sure of the exact wording) with an estimated time of 15 minutes. There it sits. The longest I let it sit was about 20 minutes, after which it still estimated 15 minutes left. If I quit System Update and then try again, it has to go through the complete download process all over again. Suggestions?

In the terminal Application copy and paste this command without quotations marks " softwareupdate --list-full-installers "

Does it list Big Sur 11.6.2 as available ? If Yes copy and paste without quotation marks " softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.6.2 "

This will bypass the normal processes of downloading the Full Version of Big Sur 11.6.2 and create a new Application in Applications folder called " Install Big Sur "

Would suggest restarting the computer in Safe Mode and then run the installer - seems to offer better results.

All the above is predicated on the computer having Enough Empty Space to handled the Full Installer to download, expand and then install. Hope there is at least 15 - 20 GB of Empty Space Available for a successful installation.
