iTunes Store no longer exists?

Has anyone noticed how Apple seems to want to force us to purchase a monthly Apple Music subscription. The apple store is insanely slow, so as to no longer even function. Am I nuts or are they just manipulating me. Meanwhile Apple Music zips to the main screen. The iTunes Store barely has a workable search function. Go figure. I feel manipulated. Anyone else?

Hey nita202,

Thanks for the update. Any music you had on your Mac before you signed up with Apple Music may still be on your device. By default, your music is stored in Home/Music. You can navigate there in Finder and either use the search option there or look through the different folders to locate your music. If you cancel Apple Music, you should still be able to access your music there.

As for buying music from the iTunes Store, it is a little different since Music was introduced, but only a little. Follow the steps under “Buy music from the iTunes Store in the Apple Music app on your Mac” from this article for info on how to do this:

Buy music from the iTunes Store

If you do run into any issues with connection speeds, the steps here can guide you on what to do:

If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services

We hope this gets you moving in the right direction.

Hope you have a great week.

Hey there nita202,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities about this issue with the iTunes Store app. Start by testing this on different networks and devices to see if this has any impact on the issue. Also, check for any updates and restart the device you’re using iTunes Store on.

If these steps don’t help, please let us know which device and OS this is occurring on. We’ll use that info to determine how to proceed.

Take care.

I work from my MacBook Pro laptop currently with MacOS Big Sur - haven't been able to take the time to move to Monterey. I teach dance online and needed to make a movie using iMovie yesterday for a project. I tour internationally when Covid isn't the issue, and so I need to have my music available offline because I cannot count on wifi in many studios around the world. I also need to know my music intimately. iTunes has become more and more problematic since Apple invested in Streaming. Instead of being user friendly, they have been putting up progressive roadblocks to ease of use, for people like me. Last night I was able to search and purchase an album going first through the streaming service (which I only get free for 3 months) and then into the iTunes store through that route. BUT, I was forced to turn my music library over to the streaming service by merging it. Now, my library doesn't exist quite as it did and I wonder what happens if I don't want to pay for the streaming in addition to purchasing albums. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you how my iPhone works with iTunes because whenever I try to go to it, it now defaults to the streaming service. I don't know how to purchase through iTunes now on my phone. I feel deeply manipulated and as if the issue was planned. It's unfortunate to be dependent on a corporation that I no longer trust to have my best interests in mind.

Thank you for trying to help me. I had to make a purchase and all the routes I chose were stuck with streaming. How do people buy albums anymore that they can use on their devices? I am not sure it exists without streaming. Such a shame.
