finder restore stalls in finder window for iphone X - restoring from Imac

Hi there - trying to restore a backup of an iphone in finder, using monterey.

It stalls at the restore screen in finder, the blue bar stops moving and just sits. No turning arrow wheel in the bar on the left. Left overnight, tried multiple times.

Shows that the actual backup is on imac pro at the correct size, so its on there - just not restoring onto phone.

Same phone has just had a black screen on all camera apps, with a little click in all screens - tried to reset it to factory to fix it (saved backup first) to see if it was a software issue (isn't!)
