Airpods 3 high pitched noise

I just bought the 3rd generation AirPods, but I hear a high pitched noise followed by rattling sound when no audio is playing (calls, music , video ).

I searched and found a temporary fix by activating background sounds in audio accessibility settings and reducing it’s volume to 0 and it worked.

My question is whether it’s software related and can be fixed in future updates, or my AirPods are no good and I should ask for a replacement

Thanks in advance.

Two Things:

A. Report this to Apple Feedback:

If software related, it would likely be drivers and update installed. So, report it to Apple. It is best that you provide feedback ob this is Apple.  Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - AirPods - Apple
  2. Select: "Performance" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: on when you came across this issue, and how you have troubleshot it thus far
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

B. Get a New Pair:

Perhaps this is a Faulty Device?:

You may have faulty AirPods. So, contact Apple, seeing if you can get this replaced. Important: Have your order invoice with you when calling them.

Apple Contact Info:

Why the Wait:

Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
