there is no badge notification in wallet - how does one accept the invite?

Trying to add family members to my applecard and the invite is out - for the second time and for the second time there is no way to accept it. The instructions say "To accept your invitation and start your application, open Wallet and tap the badge notification in the upper right corner of the screen."

There is no badge notification in Wallet in the upper right corner in two different version of the Wallet app and two different iphones.
