factory reset iPod 6th gen

i'm a super tech dummy and I inherited an iMac desktops a 2009 Macbook and two iPods. I've managed to upgrade and register the MacBook and factory reset then 5th gen iPod in my name and acct. the 6th gen iPod is requiring my fathers apple id password which i don't have. is there any other way or is the fancy music box just an expensive paper weight. Any help would be appreciated.
